South Carolina comes in at number 5 , with 302 hailstorms Property damage for each state during that same period was 126.1 million (7th highest) and 10.8 million ( 26th lowest), respectively.

Hail Damage to Materials
There are two types of hail damage to building materials:
1) Functional
2) Non-functional
1) The water-shedding ability of the material has been compromised (fractures, punctures,tears the reinforced mat )
2) The expected service life of the material has been compromised. Excessive amount of aggregate in gutters is a strong indication of hail damage.
Another way hail can damage a material can be found on metal roof panels , gutters , furnace pipes protruding thru the roof deck. Although not functional,
